The whole dispensation of the kingdom of Christ until the final judgment, embracing all of the time between the First Advent of Christ and the Second Advent of Christ culminating in the Final Judgment of all men, is repeatedly mentioned in Revelation.
The great apostasy foretold in the New Testament must be viewed as a significant manifestation of the entity symbolized by the second beast, the beast from the Earth, an apostasy by no means limited to the papacy, but certainly inclusive of it.
By its very nature any religious image is false, being a lying, man-made, presentation of what is allegedly represented.
Revelation 18 deals with the particular judgment of God himself upon Babylon, as sharply distinguished from the judgment of Revelation 17, in which the nations of earth, not by the intervention of heaven, but by something that mankind does, grow weary of her and destroy her.
