On almost every page of the New Testament, the spiritual foe of Christians is identified, not as a mere principle, but as personal, intelligent, malignant and cunning. Yes, it’s Satan, the Devil, the great dragon, serpent and evil one!
It is, to be sure, a mystery how Christ can be present everywhere, and this mystery is set forth in Revelation 1:12,13, in which the Son of God is seen among the seven golden candlesticks (his churches, or congregations).
The Gospel according to Mark is the shortest gospel and in presentation the most dense one. Mark does not so much describe the teachings but more the actions of the Lord Jesus.
We look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18).
The sophistry of our generation has tended to ameliorate, or completely reject Jesus’s teaching on this subject, (such as the guys at The Bible Project) but such a tendency is profoundly sinful and foolish.
