THE MORTAL WOUND THAT DID NOT KILL – Revelation 13

But that death-stroke was healed. It did not mean the end of Roman persecutions of God’s people. Where the first beast left off, the second took over. The old pagan empire was revived in a Christianized form, “The Holy Roman Empire”; and all of the arrogance, hatred, and persecution of the first beast was restored.

ARMAGEDDON – Revelation 16

John means the place of the final struggle between the powers of evil and the kingdom of God. And where is any such place if it is not in the hearts of people? Everywhere in the New Testament, the element of victory through judgment is an inescapable aspect of Christ’s total work. This battle is between the truth in Christ and the evil propaganda of Satan, and the truth of Christ will win.

THE COMPULSORY REQUIREMENT OF SECRECY – Matthew 6

The tragic consequences of failure to observe this principle of secrecy are today clearly visible on a national scale where the state’s ostentatious helping of the poor has degraded millions who, stripped of every dignity, must stand in line, bare the innermost secrets of their souls to “case workers,” and finally sink into a state of permanent and professional poverty and the complete abandonment of self-esteem, self-reliance, and responsibility.

THE TOWER OF BABEL – Genesis 11

In this second instance of the Hardening of mankind, it also began with the shameful wickedness of Canaan: but the eventual exaltation of man against his God became general in the events associated with the Tower of Babel and once more became so serious that the situation demanded God’s direct interference with it.

Every mortal who gives his life to the amassing of treasures, the pursuit of power, or in chasing the butterflies of happiness supposed to lie at the foot of some fantasy rainbow – every such mortal should ask himself, “What are you going to do with it?”

WHAT ARE EARTHEN VESSELS? – 2 Corinthians 4

The thought of this verse is that God entrusted the gospel to people who had none of the trappings of earthly power and honor, in order that the great success of the gospel would not be accredited to its messengers as men, but unto the eternal God who inspired them.

IN THE BEGINNING: CREATION – Genesis One – Part Two

It certainly did not require any twenty-four hours for God to say, “Let there be light”, and our understanding that God’s creation was by fiat, that He spoke the worlds into existence, and that all things appeared instantly upon the Divine word, forbid any notion that Almighty God required a time budget in any of His creative acts.

BLESSED ASSURANCE – HOPE OF ETERNAL GLORY IN HEAVEN – Psalms 88

Our lives upon earth are only a moment compared to the ceaseless ages of eternity; and our attitude during the very worst of experiences should be the same as that of Job, who cried, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him” (Job 13:15)
