DRAWING NEAR TO GOD
Even the privilege of drawing near to some great man, such as a president, a prince or a king excites and challenges men, and how much greater is the privilege of drawing near to the Almighty God himself!
Art as expression – NOT as market campaigns, will still capture our Imaginations
Even the privilege of drawing near to some great man, such as a president, a prince or a king excites and challenges men, and how much greater is the privilege of drawing near to the Almighty God himself!
The ladder is also a type of the Lord Jesus Christ. The ladder was “the way” between earth and heaven; and Christ affirmed that he is indeed “The Way” (John 14:6); and, as Jacob saw the angels of God ascending and descending upon that ladder, Jesus affirmed to Nathaniel that he would “see angels ascending and descending upon the Son of Man” (John 1:51).
The title “Son of man” was used at least forty times by Jesus, twelve times in this Gospel; and, with the exception of Stephen’s use of it (Acts 7:56), it is found only in our Lord’s reference to himself.
In the earthly life of our Lord, the wonder of Bethlehem and the angelic announcement of a Saviour born culminated in the far more wonderful event of Jesus’ death and resurrection for the salvation of mankind. The best wine came last.
The new commandment, on the other hand, is based on a new principle, measured by a higher standard than love of self.
This is based on Christ’s love, which was self-abandoning and self-sacrificing love.
When man rejects miracles, he rejects God. The real essence of miracle, then, is the acknowledgment that God is at work.
Seven is a perfect number because it is divisible only by itself and by unity; moreover the derivative, as in the accompanying diagram, reveals the most common pattern in nature.
God rested on Day Seven.
