IN CHRIST ALONE IS OUR SALVATION – 1 Corinthians 1

There are four things mentioned by Paul in 1 Corinthians 1, which belong to the Christian by virtue of his being “in Christ.” Satan, death and hell have no claim on the one who is “IN CHRIST!”

INTO THE DARKNESS

“FOR THE DAYS ARE EVIL”

Remember when you were young, how dark woods were frightening, and the open closet door across your bedroom held unknown terrors, or of the creepy things hiding under your bed?

PUT ON THE ARMOR AND SWORD OF GOD – Ephesians 6

The Christian does not oppose evil in his own strength, but in the strength of the Lord. Only the armor of God is sufficient to the warfare involved.

THE SIX TRIALS OF JESUS CHRIST – Matthew 26 + 27

Christ was tried six times, three times before the Romans and three times before the Jewish tribunals.

THE LUST OF THE FLESH AND THE LUST OF THE EYES AND THE PRIDE OF LIFE – 1 John 2

God so “loved the world” that he gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16), but “world” here has a different meaning. It is an inclusive term for all those who are in the kingdom of darkness and have not been born of God.

COULD CHRIST HAVE SINNED? – Hebrews 4

Regarding the temptation of Christ, the question inevitably appears as to the possibility, even, that Jesus could have sinned; but there seems to be no satisfactory explanation of how any person, even the Son of God, could be tempted to do anything impossible for him to do.
