Our lives upon earth are only a moment compared to the ceaseless ages of eternity; and our attitude during the very worst of experiences should be the same as that of Job, who cried, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him” (Job 13:15)

The angels then are all those members of the church who are actively engaged in carrying out God’s commands … in any or all congregations throughout the world.
This verse is a rhetorical accumulation of terms to express the whole mental nature of man on all sides.
Such is the darkness of the epic tragedy of mankind, lost in sin, without God, and without hope in the world, until they shall turn to the Lord Jesus Christ.
This is the cry of every man who is not saved. In the large view, it is the agonizing cry of all the world, especially of the benighted populations of the pre-Christian ages.
