Paul flatly declared that Christians are “dead to the law by the body of Christ” (Romans 7:4), this having reference, of course, to all requirements of the law in their totality.
The sun’s light failed for a period of three hours, the most remarkable “portent” ever seen in the heavens by any generation.

The argument in these verses is simple, but profound. If Satan was really casting out Satan, a ridiculous absurdity on the face of it, then Satan’s kingdom was being destroyed.
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
It is the “buy now, pay later” aspect of the penalty of sin which commends it as an attractive employment for many; but this verse is a warning that payment is certain, and that “death” is the quid pro quo of sin. “This for that!”
